Very introspective, meditative improvised pieces for piano solo by Emilio Mendonça, recorded in only one day studio session.

In our planet , there are 14 mountains that stand above 8,000 meters. They are located in Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan, China and India, all far away from my home in Brazil.

Of these, Everest is the tallest and most iconic to be sure. Nearby, in the Andes, Aconcagua stands at a staggering 6,982m , the tallest outside of the Himalayas.

For this album we recorded 18 solo piano improvisations in a single take, and I have selected 14 of them giving the peak names for each improvisation. One take only, without rewriting or mending, even because in a free improvisation there is no way to repeat and no retakes , because you don't even really know what you´ve played. Only the bonus track has overdubs, although it is also improvised and named after the largest mountain on the moon at almost 11,000m.

These are 14 short and simple tracks, dedicated to the beauty of these mountains that inspire so many people around the world.

No nosso planeta existem apenas 14 montanhas acima de 8.000 metros que ficam na região do Tibet, China, Nepal, Índia e Paquistão , todas bem longe do Brasil, onde vivo. O Everest é o mais alto e o mais conhecido de todos , com certeza.

Nos Andes , aqui perto , a maior montanha é o Aconcágua na Argentina com 6.962m , aliás a maior do mundo fora as 14 mencionadas dessa região chamada de Himalaia.

Nesse álbum gravamos 18 improvisos solo piano num único take , e selecionei 14 dando os nomes dos picos para cada improviso. Take único sem regravar nem emendar, mesmo porque numa improvisação livre não tem nem como repetir, porque nem se sabe o que se tocou. Apenas o bônus track tem overdubs, apesar de ser improvisado também, a maior montanha na lua com quase 11.000m de altura.

14 improvisos curtos e simples, dedicadas a beleza destas montanhas que inspiram tantas pessoas pelo mundo.
