LUND quartet album, by Celio Barros

This album celebrates 2 friends meetings after 25 years. Rui Carvalho and Daniel Barry played together in Lund, south Sweden during the 70's.

In 1998 they got back in touch, after Rui Looking for Daniel at the internet. Then Rui and me decided to make this celebration album on a weekend, in the meanwhile of Daniel works played with the big band and some workshops from Tatui's Conservatory, São Paulo, Brazil.

I suggested Emilio and Rui to compose some music to this album as well as myself and also the 2nd track "SAN" as a collective improvised music for flugelhorn, double bass with delays and drums, while we were waiting for Emilio to join the quartet later on Saturday evening.

All the other tracks were recorded on Sunday, with some overdubs after 6 months (double bass on track 4 and drums on track 5.

When there is enough affinity between each one, it doesn't matter to make some overdubs after 6 months. The muiscal connection is still there, like we were playing together.

Even having a very small time to record an entire album, there was no musical or technical rush during the whole process.

I'm very thankful to all musicians who were enough opened to this project, dedicating their free time during that weekend as well as their energy and musical support to make this album possible.

I'm also thankful to Renato Martins who borrowed his Yamaha drum set to this recording.
